3-D Modeling

Model-T
Objective: To create an accurate model of a model-t in under 1,000 polys (triangles).
Packages used: Maya 8.0
Techniques: I imported a front, top, and side view of a model-t into Maya. I then shaped the runners from a cube. I then extruded from there to create many of the other shapes. I cut out the doors, and built the seat from a separate shape. I kept down the number of polys by deleting the underside carriage of the car that would not be seen, making liberal use of the soften tool, cutting internal faces, and using cubes in place of cylinders whenever possible. All was constructed using instance modeling.

Human Head
Objective: To create an accurate model of a human head with unlimited polys.
Packages used: Maya 8.0
Techniques: I prepared in photo shop a front and side view of my own head. I used curves to shape the mouth, eyes, and nose and then extruded to create the mesh. I later added the ears and hair. All was constructed using instance duplication.

Texturing
Objective: Take an existing set of shapes and make a scene without using modeling operations. Then texture the scene.
Packages used: Maya 8.0
Techniques: I made objects based on visual research, made texture and bump map files in photoshop to import and created textures and bump maps in maya.
